This used to be a great spot but the service has gone down hill in recent years and they no longer will take "large" parties at typical meal times like 11am-2pm and force you to rent a private room. Disappointing. Shop at terrain and eat at harvest instead.

I give it 5 stars for the outdoor garden café atmosphere which I loved. Very magical setting. The service in the café was friendly, casual and not over bearing. The vibe was simple, organic, natural and clean. ( Which was very nice) I dined alone at lunch a couple of weeks ago. Arrived about 11:30 and was seated right away by a very friendly male host. I did not have a reservation and was seating outside, somewhat near the kitchen or server wait station area. I ordered the burger with swiss cheese on a brioche roll for $18 accompanied by hand cut fries. Iced Tea served in a Mason jar was good and fitting for the atmosphere. On this particular day, I would give the $18 Certified Angus Beef Burger a 2 stars. I am not certain what kind of meat it was, but it was not juicy, or flavorful. It was dry and fell apart in crumbles. I had to eat it with a knife and fork. It didn't taste freshly made. I did not finish the burger. The chairs were uncomfortable, which made me was to not stay any longer than I had to ( I would have stayed and tried dessert if the seats were more comfortable) I have had Bison Burgers elsewhere, that were juicy and delicious and they were in the same price point as this place...but I would not recommend the $18 Burger. The fries were fairly good, and I did eat all of the them. (Honestly, I've had a better Burger at Jakes Wayback Burgers) The warm, fresh bread served in the terra cotta garden pot, along with the honey- poppyseed butter was the best part of the meal and memorable. The amount of time it took, was a little slow. I didn't leave the restaurant until 1:15, after waiting for my check and waiting to pay. I like the atmosphere, so I will go back again and try something else on the menu. I love the Terrain Garden Shop and all the inspirational ideas one can get from browsing. Parking at this time of day seemed a bit challenging. Lots of parking, but busy with people shopping for outdoor garden items.

This place is proof that aesthetics aren't everything. I had reservations for three for Sunday brunch to celebrate my mom's birthday, which was noted in my OpenTable reservation. Our party got stuck in traffic--we came in from Philadelphia for this!--and the host who answered the phone when I called to say we were running behind was accommodating. When we got there, we were instantly enchanted by the gorgeous setting, but the enchantment ended very quickly. Enchantment fades when you wait to be seated in a room full of empty tables with three people mindlessly standing at the host stand. Enchantment ends when it takes 15 minutes for your coffee order to come out cold. And enchantment is totally forgotten when it takes an hour for your food to come out--ALSO cold--and one of your eating companions is unable to eat his entrée at all due to unmentioned pickle slices on a side salad. I know that's personal taste preference, but I have never seen a pickle on a salad in my LIFE. The juice seeped into the rest of my companion's food, making that inedible for him as well. He was brave enough to send the dish back for one sans pickles; even though we waited an additional half hour for his plate to come back, at least his meal was hot. The food was not impressive whatsoever, and the prices were exorbitant for the amount of food on the plate and lack of creativity in the dishes. I could have made the same thing at my own home with ingredients from my neighborhood farmer's market (a roasted veggie sandwich with fries on the side) for the same price as what I paid. The only acknowledgment of my mom's birthday came in the form of a half-baked scone with a candle stuck in it--10 minutes after we had requested the check. The flavors were good enough, but the scone was literally half dough. It felt like a slap in the face after the brunch experience we had just had, and I almost would've preferred if they brought nothing out at all for her. I knew I should've consulted the Yelp reviews before making my reservation, but I went on word of mouth. Never again will I do that, and never again will I return to this cafe. Styers/Terrain, stick to aesthetics and not food--you clearly excel in one and not the other.

We made reservations for 4 at 11:30 for my moms birthday. My Grandmom was there on time with us shortly following. We had 4 more people wanting to join us for a total of 8. I've worked in the restaurant business for many years. In this business you learn to accommodate people because plans change. Sometimes people don't show up, and sometimes more people than planned. They told my Grandmom they didn't even have our reservation on file. We made it 5 days in advance. So on top of "not having enough people in the kitchen to cook for 4 extra people", they wouldn't even seat the 4 people which we had originally made reservations for. I've been here before and the food is worth it, but the service is not. There are many other restaurants which treat their customers great that I'd rather give my money to.

My husband and I went this past weekend. We were very excited, since we'd been several times in the past and absolutely loved the atmosphere and the food. Going to eat at the cafe was a rare treat that we both relished. This time, we were relegated to the more casual space adjacent to the greenhouse room, despite having made a reservation. Fine, whatever, we were still excited for the food. The server finally showed up and gave us our menus. We immediately noticed that the prices, which were already very high, had increased to be fairly unattainable- $15 for quiche?! (And that was one of the least expensive items). Also, the menu was much smaller than it had been previously. So, I ordered the quiche- not to be cheap, but because it was the only vegetarian option and my husband ordered the frittata. Our food arrived and our waitress was nowhere to be found to ask us how our meal was. It was not good- did the chef change too? A meek busboy brought our assorted pickle appetizer and didn't bother to tell us what was on the plate, since the menu didn't specify. When we received our main courses, it was obvious that the food had been prepared earlier and then re-heated. The quiche was gross: it was basically a little puffed pastry cup in the shape of a flower with about an inch and a half of watery gook in the bottom of it. It had two mushrooms on top. It did not even taste like quiche- did not taste any eggs or cheese in it- was mostly just puffed pastry. If I wasn't so hungry, I would not have eaten it. My husband's frittata was small and dried out. Even the bread, which we used to love, was dried out- probably from being made earlier and then re-heated; for the first time, we did not order more. Sadly, we will no longer spend our hard-earned money at this "restaurant:" the service, prices, and quality of the food were the three strikes that have eliminated it from our list of favorite places.

I posted the same review for Terrain At Styers, but I think that's the name of the shop, not the actual cafe. The shop is connected and nice to browse through. I'm really in between 3 and 4 stars, but 3 stars wouldn't do the actual food any justice. I made a reservation for 7:15p, arrived early and was seated immediately upon arrival at 7. I like the greenhouse atmosphere and the place definitely has a nice, unique ambiance. Too bad it took us forever to get our food. The bread that comes in a flower pot tasted great with the whipped honey sage butter, but it took forever to come out. We split the poached pear salad between a party of three which tasted good, but seemed like the greens were not properly washed.. there was definitely sand in there or something. For entrees: The terrain chowder is not actually a chowder, but more of a plate of seafood with some broth at the bottom. I did ask the waitress what kind of chowder it would be before ordering, but I could see people ordering it and being surprised with what they get. However, it was absolutely delicious - especially the perfectly cooked scallops. The short ribs pulled apart very easily, but the meat itself was a little tough. The truffled polenta was so good though. The roasted organic chicken breast was seasoned well but a little dry. The kale and chestnut&raisin bread pudding that came with it was good. My beef with this place is that it takes way to long to get food out. We spent 1:45 hrs at the restaurant when we only ordered 1 appetizer and 3 entrees. It took around an hour to get our entrees. We were really hungry, so we ended up ordering an additional bread ($2), but ended up being unpleasantly stuffed for our entrees. We would've been in good shape if food came out in reasonable time. However, the food was good enough for us to not hate the place. I'll go back at some point when I'm craving a good meal and prepared for the wait. Will definitely take advantage of BYOB.

Very disappointing this time round. I have eaten lunch here many times, at one point, a couple times a week. The salads were great... key word here is WERE. I took my Mom here for her birthday....she likes the atmosphere... yes, the atmosphere is very nice & peaceful BUT, the food, well, BIG disappointment. Got the asparagus & spinach soup with horseradish cream... SO BLAND. Tasted like nothing, tasted nothing like asparagus or spinach.... blah... it it cost $8.00... really? I don't mind paying for it, but it was NOT good. We both got salads. SO small, we left hungry & disappointed. The idea of a barley/quinoa salad is good, but really? If there was half a cup on the plate, that is an exaggeration. The 1/2 cup tasted okay though. Then, we shared the garden salad. Hardly any vegetables & what was there was sliced so paper thin, it was embarrassing that they would charge anything for that. My neighbor's pet rabbit eats more for lunch. I feel ripped off.. big time. The bread baked in a terra cotta flower pot was always a highlight, however, this time the bread was under baked & doughy, even the butter was not as good, it used to come with a delicious sweet salt on top, the best thing about Styer's Garden Cafe´ was that they paid attention to the details... that's what made it great... but, it is obvious that it is a new chef (from even a year ago?) Because the quality has gone done, the portion sizes are minuscule & IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE.. for what you get... I would not be so concerned about the prices if the portion sizes reflected that value. I am so disappointed. Used to LOVE it here...... :( sad to say...

We went to Terrain for a girl's day on their Holiday Open House day. (Which in itself is a wonderful time). We had reservations for 2:00 brunch at the cafe. We had to wait about fifteen minutes for our table, no big deal- the entire place was jam packed. Our waitress came over immediately and was so sweet and helpful. We ordered the caramel apple hot cider which was very good. Three people had the mushroom soup and I had the squash soup and everyone enjoyed them. It was a nice size bowl along with the warm flowerpot bread, it hit the spot. We also ordered two burgers for the four of us and split them. They were amazing! Very flavorful and juicy....honestly one of the best I've had. They came with a large bowl of delicious, seasoned fries. Was it pricey? Yes...$112 for four (including tip) and we had a cup of cider, bowl of soup and half a burger each. (Soup was $9.00 and burgers are $18). Overall, I'm glad we went..it was a lovely time, service was excellent, and food was delicious and we were full when we left. I wouldn't go often because of the price, but it makes for a nice special occasion or "annual" girl's day. And it's BYO if you want to bring a bottle of wine. Our waitress also suggested we could bring champagne next time and they'll make us Mimosas...nice idea. We all enjoyed our Brunch at Terrain!
